Paper Quilling Jewelry – Elegant and Sophisticated Earrings, Pendants and Necklaces
Paper Quilling Jewelry brings a timeless craft to modern wearables with step-by-step instructions and detailed tutorials. Using gilded paper and the simple technique of rolling coils, scrolls and unique quilled shapes, you can create elegant and sophisticated earrings, pendants, and necklaces to showcase your personal style.
Quilling is an ancient art form, and for good reason. It’s easy to master and the results are both striking and durable, with many design possibilities. In fact, quilling was first mentioned in The New Lady’s Magazine in 1786 as “a harmless amusement for females of the upper classes to while away leisure hours.”
Licia Politis, the uber-fabulous quiller behind the blog Let’s Quill On and YouTube channel, has used a variety of colorful paper and gilded edges to craft these three pairs of earrings. She also adds a little flair to her designs by adding a loop to the end of one of the teardrop pieces.
This pair is created from 1/8 inch wide silver-edge ivory and gold-edge blue strips. To make these, I used a simple craft knife and metal-edged ruler to cut the strips to my desired length. A fine-tip squeeze bottle is useful for applying glue. Use pins to hold the pieces in place while the glue dries. A damp cloth to wipe sticky fingers is helpful, as well.
