Delivered Quietly on iPhone
Delivered quietly is a feature on iPhone that lets you set notifications so they won’t show up on the Lock screen, make noise, or show badges. It’s a great way to minimize distractions while you’re focused on something specific.
You can enable Deliver Quietly on iPhone by simply swiping left on an app notification in the Notification Center. Then tap Manage.
Packaging
If you’ve ever bought an iPhone, there’s a good chance you still have the box it came in in your storeroom or cupboard. I know, that’s a bit odd but it’s actually something that many people do and it’s not something you can really blame them for.
Apple spends a lot of time developing the packaging for their products, from the elegant body to the creative designed structure. Every single element of the box is carefully conceived and designed to protect the product as well as showcase the same esthetic beauty that they apply to their products themselves.
The packaging of the iPhone is always a key part of the unboxing experience, which is why Apple goes to great lengths to make sure that their packaging is both elegant and practical. They use tuck top boxes, front lock mailers or pull-tab openings to ensure that the packaging is not only attractive but functional as well.
In the past, Apple has optimized their iPhone packaging to minimise plastic use and improve environmental impact, for example by removing charging bricks from their boxes and allowing users to buy chargers separately. The omission of AirPods, in-box headphones and a wall charger on the new iPhone 12 has also been an environmentally friendly move.
This time around, Apple has made the switch to an eco-friendly packaging solution, based on paper, which will help them further eliminate the use of plastics in their packaging by 2025. This new packaging is based on brown boxes that are 100% plastic free and created using bleach-free paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
According to Packhelp’s supply chain expert Artur Obolenski, this new packaging has a wide range of benefits for Apple’s supply chain and distribution channels. Besides the fact that it uses less packaging, it means there are fewer journeys to deliver the phone to customers.
But this doesn’t mean that the package is 100% sustainable; there are still some other factors to consider when it comes to reducing waste. For instance, Apple has chosen to use a larger box that includes the iPhone and AirPods in French stockists, which is a big waste of resources when the same box could be used for both.
Distractions
You may be using an iPhone to do a work-related task or for some other reason, and want to avoid distractions. Thankfully, iOS offers several ways to make your device less distracting, including Focus Mode and driving focus, as well as silencing notifications on specific apps.
Do Not Disturb is a great option, but it can get a little clumsy when you have to turn it on and off. You can also try out Deliver Quietly, a new feature introduced in iOS 12 that lets you silence alerts from certain apps without having to put your iPhone in Do Not Disturb mode.
The feature enables you to turn off alerts for an app while still keeping notifications in your Notification Center and receiving badges on the app icon. It also means that the notifications won’t appear on your lock screen or play a sound or vibration when they do arrive.
This can be particularly helpful if you’re working on something that requires a lot of concentration or are prone to becoming distracted. It also works well if you’re driving and need to keep your attention on the road.
To use Focus on an iPhone, go to Settings > Notifications and tap the switch for “Focus Status.” Once on, all notifications that don’t belong to the app you’re in will be snoozed. You can even choose to have it on for a certain number of hours each day or week.
For instance, if you’re trying to get your taxes done, Focus mode is an ideal option because it will filter out all calls and texts for the time period you set. This allows you to zone in and get work done, rather than being constantly flooded with messages and other interruptions.
However, if you’re a business person and need to have a constant flow of email or other important alerts to stay on top of your tasks, Focus might not be the best choice. It’s better to let your phone ring, though, if you really need to hear from a client or boss.
For a more targeted approach, Apple also provides a new option in iOS 16 called “Deliver Quietly.” It lets you silently disable alerts for an app, which is especially useful if you’re looking to minimize distractions on your device and only receive notifications from the apps you need. This option will help you save battery life while you’re not receiving any incoming alerts.
Battery life
Battery life is a big concern for iPhone users, and it can be frustrating to see your phone draining rapidly when you’re not using it. Fortunately, there are some simple ways to increase your iPhone’s battery life without sacrificing performance or functionality.
The first step is to understand how the battery works in your device. Unlike older battery technologies that used chemical reactions to power your phone, the batteries in today’s iPhones use lithium-ion technology. Lithium-ion batteries charge quickly, last longer, and have a higher power density than older battery technologies for more battery life in a thinner design.
To learn more about your iPhone’s battery, go to Settings and tap Battery. There, you’ll find a lot of information about your iPhone’s battery, including its health rating and how many charge cycles it has left.
Most users can expect their iPhone’s battery to last north of 80%, but it can vary from user to user. Apple says that the average battery will keep its full capacity around 500 complete charge cycles before it begins to degrade.
This can happen because of deep discharges, frequent recharging, and the chemical aging of the battery. To avoid this, charge your battery only as much as it will take to get to 100%.
In fact, it’s better to recharge your battery for a dozen minutes when it’s down 10% compared to charging it for hours once it’s down 70%. This strategy will minimize deep discharges, ensure your phone doesn’t overheat, and will prevent you from seeing 0% or 100% zones on the display.
Your iPhone’s battery also has a feature that limits peak performance to ensure it can hold a charge for as long as possible. This feature is only activated when the battery’s health has reached a certain level and it will shut down if it’s not capable of delivering the required peak power to support your apps.
Apple does a good job of monitoring your iPhone’s battery health and will automatically disable this feature when the battery health degrades to 79% or below. However, you can turn it back on if you want to restore peak performance capability to your phone’s full capacity.
Privacy
The iPhone is a powerful tool that carries an enormous amount of personal information. Everything from your contacts, photos, location, and even your financial data is stored on the device. This can put you at risk if someone is able to gain access to the information.
However, there are many ways you can protect yourself from this. One way is to check and control your iPhone’s privacy settings. This can help you stop apps from accessing sensitive information and prevent unwanted hardware like your microphone, camera, and on-device motion & fitness sensors from tracking your movements.
To review the privacy settings on your iPhone, open the iOS Settings app and tap Privacy. This will show you a list of apps that want to access certain features or information on your phone. You can turn off the switch next to each app that you do not want to have access to.
Another way to review the privacy settings on your iPhone is to use the Privacy Report feature in iOS 15. This feature was introduced with iOS 15 and allows you to see which apps are accessing which permissions, as well as which ones are tracking you.
Apple has done a great job of protecting your privacy on your iPhone. It does not allow any apps to access your phone’s features without your consent, and it also requires any apps that are sharing data with other companies or apps to ask for permission before doing so.
You can also disable location services if you are concerned about your personal information being tracked. This can be particularly helpful if you want to prevent others from knowing your location at all times.
In addition to these privacy options, you can use iCloud Private Relay to ensure your internet traffic is kept private. This service works by routing your internet traffic through two different servers, encrypting the traffic, and deleting any trace that it might have been sent to a third party.
The Apple iPhone is one of the best devices out there when it comes to privacy and security. However, you can always improve your privacy by going through all of the iOS settings and changing them to suit your needs.
